The traffic police have chalked a plan to make UP Gate signal-free to decongest traffic coming from all the three routes. The crossing is one of the busiest in the city.
- The plan is awaiting clearance from the Ghaziabad Development Authority. According to city traffic police inspector Anil Yadav, in the first part of the plan, traffic from Link Road en route Delhi, will no longer be allowed to turn right at the crossing.
- Motorists coming from Link Road will be diverted towards NH24, for going towards Vijaynagar. They can then turn left from a nearby mall and drive through an under bridge towards Khoda Colony. From there, they can return to NH-24 from a traffic intersection.
- Yadav said, “The next part of the plan involves traffic from Vijaynagar. Vehicles will no longer be allowed to turn right toward the Link road. They will go towards the flyover near Ghazipur in Delhi.”
