IBM is helping utilities add a layer of digital intelligence to their grids. These smart grids use sensors, meters, digital controls and analytic tools to automate, monitor and control the two-way flow of energy across operations—from power plant to plug. Through this, a power entity can optimize grid performance, prevent outages, restore outages faster and allow consumers to manage energy usage right down to the individual networked appliance.
Substation Automaton (Electrical SCADA System): Wave City, a city with IBM enabled smart features, will have 11KVA substation ready and commissioned, which would be managed through the Central Command Center. This substation will ensure uninterrupted power supply from the substation to every residence at Wave City. In case the substation is not working, the power supply would be provided through DG sets.
