Approximately 500 visually- impaired teachers in the country are getting training in various areas of Information and Communication technology. The Kerala state govt. is running the IT@school initiative, to empower the visually impaired educators in ICT as a means of incorporating the Hi-Tech school program in state. The training will allow the teachers to organize their subjects with the help of technology in a month’s time.
- Once the training is finished for these teachers, Kerala will be the first state in India that has trained all visually impaired teachers in ICT.
- Nearly 45,000 Kerala schools will benefit from the Hi-Tech school program, and it is meant to make the state highly digitized in the educational sector.
- It includes areas of the classroom learning such as infrastructure, textbooks, teacher training, learning materials, handbooks, e-governance with ICT as well as monitoring and evaluation.
