IGBC or the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry. Founded in 2001, its main vision is to enable a sustainable environment for all and to make India a global leader in sustainable built environment by 2025.
The council offers a wide array of services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings.
Whether Green buildings are really green is to be decided against the predefined rating systems. There are three primary rating systems in India.
